Both papermaking and printmaking make excellent demonstrations for view by the general public in open air events, or by a more targeted audience in galleries, museums, and arts centres. Private functions such as conventions or commemorative events can also benefit by the presence of a working artist who specialises in showing techniques and talking with considerable knowledge on the subject. Observers are not only invited to watch and ask questions, but are encouraged to have a go themselves, so that they can take a small piece of work home with them as well. The working area is also decorated with examples of the artist’s work along with display boards illustrating the history of the craft he is demonstrating. Jonathan brings all of the materials equipment needed, the venue supplies tables, water, electricity, and protection from wind and rain. And , of course, lots of people ! It couldn’t be simpler…There are two types of demonstration on offer:
